During the reading of Justice Field's decision in the United States Circuit Court in San Francisco on the 3d inst., reviewing the decision heretofore made in the Sharon case, Sarah Althea Terry interrupted the proceedings by asking how much had been paid for deciding against her. When the Court ordered Marshall Franke to put her out, Mrs. Terry's husband resisted the officer, struck him and knocked several of his teeth out. A free fight was then indulged in, and Terry was thrown to the ground. When taken outside, he drew a dagger, and, although confronted with a pistol, made his way into the Marshall's office, where his wife had been taken. There he was disarmed and locked up. Justice Field sentenced Mrs. Terry to imprisonment for thirty days and Judge Terry to imprisonment for six months in the Alameda county jail for contempt of court.
