They write from Kilkenny, that a Gentleman of 1000 l. a Year, has lately bound himself an Apprentice to a Sadler in that Town for Five Years, to learn his Trade, and that, among other Articles of his Indentures, he is to clean his Master's and Mistress's Shoes. The Gentleman has given no Reason for this odd Whim, about which there are various Conjectures; but the most probable one is, that he is of the Opinion of the Mahometans, who hold, that every Man must be a Tradesman, not excepting their Kings and Princes, who every Day employ themselves in some Handicraft.

A gentleman of 1000 l. a year has bound himself as an apprentice to a saddler in Kilkenny for five years to learn the trade, including cleaning his master's and mistress's shoes. He gave no reason for this odd whim, with various conjectures, the most probable being his opinion aligning with Mahometans that every man, including kings and princes, must be a tradesman and employ themselves in handicraft daily.
