Full Text

Extract of a letter from Halifax, dated Oct. .

We have received here by the packet, accounts of the arrival in England of the U. S. Schooner Revenge, with instructions relative to the Chesapeake affair. Our apprehensions of war still continue. It is said our Governor has received orders to embody 2000 militia; that three regiments of regular troops for this place have been embarked from Cork : and that six of the regiments now at Copenhagen, are under orders to proceed hither."

The measures of the British relative to Canada and Nova-Scotia, appear to indicate suspicions that our government is determined upon hostilities, and that ordinary concessions may not avert them.
