Full Text

Extract of a letter from Philadelphia, to a gentleman in this city, May 20.

A gentleman arrived from New York this day, who informs, that 70 sail of transports, with 10,000 men, are arrived before that place, and that an express is coming to Congress from the general with an account of it. We are all well prepared to receive them there, being strongly fortified; and, though not more than 8000 regular troops are in the works, yet we can speedily throw in 10 or 12,000 militia, so that we have no doubt of giving a good account in that quarter.
