The Spiritwood Navigation Co. is proving much more of a success than the Dakota or James River Navigation Co. While the latter is about to wind up its unfortunate career and suspend, much to the regret of our estimable and trusting (?) citizens, who would much rather see it pay up than bust up.
The Spiritwood Company, under the management of its efficient board of directors, headed by the talented and handsome president, Col. Ed. Strong, late of the Cunard line, is entering upon a career of prosperity, never equaled since the prairie schooners ran from Fort Ransom to Fort Seward. The president's office has been recently fitted up in elegant style in Curtin's block, where the business of the company is transacted.
The Mary Strong can be chartered by excursion parties during the summer months, and when not in use can be found at the dock in the rear of Weir's warehouse and elevator. The company are not prepared to haul freight this season.
