Full Text

Kentucky.—The Louisville Journal has returns from nearly the whole State. The Senators elected stand 7 Whig to 4 Loco-Foco; those holding over are about 20 Whig to 10 Loco. To the House 58 Whigs and 40 Locos are elected—two to hear from. Among the Whigs elected are Chilton Allen, ex-M. C., C. S. Morehead, ex-Lieut. Governor, and John L. Helm, long Speaker; among the Locos, Col. R. M. Johnson, ex-Vice President, and Chittenden Lyon, ex-M. C.

It is worthy of remark that one half of the Loco-Focos are elected on the 'Relief' hobby from such strong Whig Counties as Boone, Fleming, Grayson, Hart, Lewis, Union, Montgomery, Madison, Pulaski, Shelby, Simpson and Woodford.—Thus this beautiful party, which usually professes hostility to legislating against public distresses—which thinks the People are apt to expect too much from Government,' and especially deprecates alleviating public embarrassments by issues of rag money,' have here carried County after County by promising to procure the passage of Stay Laws, Valuation Laws, the creation of a Commonwealth Bank, &c. &c. So in Vermont, they pretend to be the best friends of Protection to Wool, in Louisiana to Sugar, and so on. If they could carry a State anywhere by insisting that they were the consistent friends of a National Bank, they would do it, and make their followers believe it too.
