16 GIRLS: MODEL SPRING FASHIONS: IN COLUMBIA

Columbia.-Sixteen local girls and women stepped through the rose trailed arbor and modeled latest spring fashions on the stage of the Columbia High School auditorium Friday evening, in the annual fashion show sponsored by the Columbia Junior Woman's Club.

Emcee for the occasion was Mayor Paul L. Liverman, and narrator Mrs. Jack Weaver of Plymouth.

Fashions were shown from the Fashion Shop of Plymouth.

For the door prize, names drawn by Chip Jones, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jones, and winners read by the Emcee. Winning the $50 outfit was Mrs. Helen Yerby. and the fishing tackle C. C. Simmons of Norfolk.

Other forms of entertainment were songs: "Tammy" by Miss Madgetta Morris; "April Love" by J. A. Brickhouse; "True Love" by J. A. Brickhouse and Mrs. Helen Yerby: "Alice Blue Gown" by Mrs. D. M. Pledger. Jr., Miss Helen Yerby and Miss Lynda Knight. Two song-and-dance numbers were given by Miss Faye Spencer and Bibb Swain: "In The Middle of An Island" with polynesian costumes and "Sugar Time". Miss Sue Snell and Mrs. Millie Alexander accompanied at the piano. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Waverly Phelps.

Modelling were Mrs. Mildred Hassell. Mrs. Statha McClees, Mrs. Louise Hales. Mrs. Sally Alexander, Mrs. Polly Bateman, Mrs. Mary Lou Pledger, Mrs. Lenora Howett, Mrs. Millie Alexander, Mrs. Helen Yerby. Mrs. Blanche W. Cohoon, Mrs. Janet Lilley, and Misses Jack and Jane Harris, Pat Cohoon, Angela Hopkins, Linda Knight and Cabel Leary.
