Guard Grid Men Journey to Warren Today to Meet Bisbee Alumni Team In First Regular Game of Season
With all last minute detail done away with, the Douglas national guard football team finished up their training and declared themselves to be ready for the Bisbee high school alumni team which they will meet this afternoon at 3 at the Warren park. The game is expected to be close as the teams are evenly matched. Bisbee has the advantage of having played two games while the guardsmen have yet to face foreign competition. The Miners have played the crack Bisbee high Pumas, whom they held to a 6-2 score, and the Nogales city team, which team they held to a scoreless tie.
All the members of the guard team will meet in the armory at 11 a. m. today. Blankets will be issued to the members of the team.
Transportation will be furnished for every member of the company. Fans who expect to go to Bisbee are requested to ride by the temporary armory and pick up any additional rooters.
The probable lineups for both teams are as follows:
Douglas: Scott, le; N. Flores, lt; Taylor, lg; Brooks, c; McMahon, rg; Wells, rt; W. Young, re; Swain, qb; B. Flores, lh; H. Young, rh; Hall, fb.
Bisbee: Fisher, le; McKinney, lt; Steinmetz, lg; Henderson, c; B. Polley, rg; M. Polley, rt; W. Polley, re; J. Cole, qb; Lake, lh; J. Holt, rh; Horn, fb.
Substitutes: Douglas guards: Martin, Huish, Houck, Fritz, Samozo Dominguez, Danpelley, Howe, Varela, Bergfield and Rork. Bisbee: C. Cole, Winters, Oliver and Brown.
