HONOR TO WHOM HONOR IS DUE.—Our esteemed friend, the editor of the Baltimore Patriot, received a merited compliment from the Whigs of that city on Friday evening last. They gathered in great numbers before his office to exchange congratulations on the victories that had been won, and to hear new tidings. A large assemblage of ladies—those beautiful Marylanders, who are famed throughout the world—gave additional animation to the scene. Some of the most able and eloquent men in Baltimore addressed the meeting; and several rounds of applause were spontaneously given in approbation of the editor's labors in the cause.

This is the right spirit—honorable to the generous Whigs of the Monumental City, who now, in the sunshine of success, show themselves mindful of a firm and faithful advocate that has battled for them through many long years when in the shade of adversity—that stood by them bravely and boldly in the stormiest hour, with a zeal, devotedness, and energy, which outran their most eager solicitations.
