The Richmond Whig contains the correspondence relative to the affair at Norfolk, between the Sheriff of Norfolk county, and Com. Dallas, which makes such a prominent figure in Gov. Tazewell’s late Message. It appears that Com. Dallas refused to permit Sheriff Mining to execute a writ commanding him to take a midshipman named Turner, who was on board of his ship. The facts being communicated to the President, he expressed his regret, through the Secretary of the Navy, that the complaint did not reach him until after the sailing of Com. Dallas for the West Indies, and his intention to call on the Commodore for an explanation.
