Gophers Risk Undefeated Record Against Powerful Washington Team
Standings
Seattle, Sept. 26.-(AP)-The lid blows off the nation's gridiron pot Saturday when the Minnesota "smoke-eaters" and the University of Washington Huskies meet in Washington stadium.
The chief worry of the battle was Coach Bernie Bierman's. He wasn't sure just how his gridders would take to battle after gulping a lot of smoke when their hotel burned down in Missoula, Mont., early Thursday morning.
"It's like jumping out of the fire and into the frying pan." said Bierman, who has led his Golden Gophers through three successive undefeated seasons.
"These huskies are tough."
