Art Museum Wants Youth's Painting
A 12-year-old Atlanta school boy has been made an offer by a major art museum for the purchase of one of his paintings that was displayed, upon invitation, at the Denver, Colorado Centennial Show, "Children's Art of the U.S.A."
The painting, titled "As Seen From My Window," brought an offer from the Denver Art Museum to young Paul Perdue, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Perdue, of 2208 Tiger Flower Dr.
An invitation to enter children's paintings in the Centennial show came to Atlanta, and Mrs. Mattie Greenwood art resource teacher of Area 1, selected and sent paintings of four children for exhibition.
All of the paintings sent by Mrs. Greenwood were exhibited in the show and news finally came to her from Mrs. A. Theodorides, curator of art at the Denver Art Museum, that the institution would like to purchase the picture done by Paul as a permanent part of their collection of children's art.
Paul, who will enter Turner High School this fall, was a student at Anderson Park School under the tutelage of Mrs. Gertrude McDonald at the time his painting was composed.
