Full Text
"TREASON!" We noticed the other day in an obscure print, an article having this caption—and our curiosity was awakened to discover where the treason existed. It appears that some wicked opponent of the administration has been guilty of printing a Declaration of Independence, wherein a parallel is run between the tyranny of George III. and Andrew I. The article, we believe, originated in the Boston Atlas, and has had a wide circulation. We are very sorry the Tories are so much disturbed about it. But they must take it coolly. When the Whigs do carry the revolution which has already commenced, they will grant this boon to the supporters of the crown, that their property shall not be confiscated, and they shall have leave peaceably to retire into the King's dominions. The Whigs are proverbially a generous set of fellows—and they will be very merciful in their coming day of power.
