Mrs. C. H. Hays has returned from a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Pendleton at Eggleston.
Mrs. H. D. Plummer, of Iaeger, and her son, Robert Plummer, AOM 3-c, USNAS, of Jacksonville, Fla., were in Tazewell this week on business.
Jack Britts, of Shreveport, La., came in this week for a fifteen day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Britts.
William J. Crill, Aer M. 2-c U. S. N., is now based in North Africa and is doing well and is enthusiastic about his assignment. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Crill, of Tazewell.
We have heard nothing to the contrary and must assume that Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Gillespie are having a fine time at Hot Springs, Ark.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam D. May are spending the week in Cincinnati, where Mr. May will attend a national hardware association meeting as representative of the Bluefield Hardware Company, of which he is general manager.
Harry Williams, mail carrier from the Tazewell post office, is recovering from an appendicitis operation at the Mattie Williams hospital at Richlands, which took place the first of the week. His mother, Mrs. Alice Harrison, of Abingdon, has been with him. Williams makes his home in Tazewell with his sister, Mrs. John Vermillion.
Mrs. Ida Lynch, who has spent the winter with her sister, Mrs. Shirey, in Bluefield, has come back home. She will remain in Tazewell indefinitely.
Pfc. J. T. Heldreth, Jr., is here as the guest of his mother, Mrs. J. T. Heldreth. Pfc. Heldreth has been stationed in Alaska for the past eighteen months, and is being transferred to Camp Gruber, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Sidney Peery and Mrs. W. W. Peery entertained at a buffet supper at the home of Mrs. Sidney Peery last Friday for Mrs. C. H. Peery, II. Mrs. Peery before her marriage was Miss Jane Crockett Peery, of Tazewell.
The president of the Junior class at Madison college for next year will be Miss Mildred Witten, of Tazewell. She is also a member of the Porpoise and Cotillion Clubs and the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.
Miss Mildred Witten and Miss Nancy Kung, both students at Madison college, spent the week end in Tazewell with Miss Witten's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Witten.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lowry and daughter, Elizabeth, of Buckroe Beach, Va., were week-end guests of Mrs. Lowry's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Peery, North Tazewell.
Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Edwards have as their guests, their daughter, Mrs. Lorne Creech and children, Eleanor, Florence and Buddy, and June and Patsy Creech, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Creech, of Wauchula, Florida.
W. T. (Bill) Beavers, of the Beavers Dairy on Dry Fork, is seriously ill at Orlando, Fla., with a heart affection. Members of his family are with him, and it is reported his physician, Dr. Abercrombie, of Mattie Williams hospital, will go to see him this week.
Miss Marian Rose Verano, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Verano, of Bluefield, Va., and Lt. Ryland Randolph Weisiger, II, were married on March 25 in Baltimore, Md.
Mrs. Sidney Peery, Mrs. J. L. Mason, Mrs. E. R. Kitts, Mrs. W. G. Monk and Mrs. Conner Hays attended the convention of the Virginia Federation of Womens Clubs held in Roanoke last Wednesday and Thursday. These ladies represented the North Tazewell club.
Mrs. A. S. Higginbotham and Mrs. W. A. Scott represented the Tazewell club.
Dr. R. P. Copchaver continues ill at his home here.
The Christian Unity Evangelistic League will hold its regular monthly meeting at Riverside Chapel on Sunday afternoon, April 23rd, at three o'clock.
Howard Caudill ARM 3-c, has recently spent ten day leave with his wife and relatives. He is stationed at Norfolk Naval Air Station.
Robert Bottimore, of Raleigh, N. C., was a Tazewell visitor this week. Mr. Bottimore is employed by a large chain store in Raleigh.
Mrs. R. P. Covington, of Glendale, California, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Coates. Mrs. Covington is the sister of Mr. Coates.
Barnes Moore, formerly with Warren's barber shop here, now stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Station, Great Lakes, Illinois, is spending a furlough at his home in Tazewell.
