Publick Documents.—Sensible that our readers are anxious to see the whole of the papers published by order of congress, we procured, through a friend at the seat of government, a book containing both series complete. The National Intelligencer publishes the parts deemed most important; by occupying the columns of the Gazette a few days longer, we hope to lay the correspondence before the publick. This is due, if on no other, yet on this account—it will shew to a deluded people that every thing relative to England is made publick, whilst they are permitted to see but two or three short letters from France. And the PEOPLE may possibly say to their servants at Washington—“If our ministers and agents in France have only told thus much, they are unworthy the trust: If they have been active and zealous, and furnished government with an account of passing and important events, and government conceals the impending danger, we will employ better Servants."
