Blake Reports Active Interest Throughout County With Number Entries Made.

When the gates are thrown open September 19, visitors to the county fair will see exhibits of livestock and products of agriculture as good as can be shown anywhere, it has been announced by J. Gordon Blake, county agent and chairman of the agriculture committee of the fair association.

McDowell dairymen are making plans to show off the fine herds that have been developed in the county. There will be exhibits of good hogs, and crop exhibits will give the public a better idea of the tremendous yields of McDowell farms this year.

Among others already placed for the fair, Mr. Blake said W. H. Porter, of Old Fort, will exhibit a sire and four heifers, of the Guernsey breed. Mr. Porter will also show an individual milk cow, from his herd of 25 or 30.

John Ray Jimeson's entries include several Guernsey heifers, and J. E. Jimeson will make an exhibit. T. H. Bartlett, Geo. Crawford and J. H. L. Miller have entered Jerseys. W. K. Gill and W. C. McIver will make a showing of their dairy stock.

C. Rex Wilson will exhibit a jack and several colts. Other colts will be entered by J. H. L. Miller and W. H. Porter, it was said.

With acres and acres of fine corn growing in the county, it is expected some prize winning exhibits will be made. A 4-H club boy, James Lonon, of North Cove, expects to make somebody step lively to get the first prize for corn, it was learned.

J. G. Burgin reports keen interest in poultry exhibits and looks for many entries of the best breeds. R. K. Davis has many inquiries relative to the rabbit section and said exhibits will be many and varied.

In household arts, Mrs. Ingram Holland and Miss Jennie Clay promise a large and interesting display at the fair.

Attractions already announced, on the midway, have been extended by the booking of Latham's Circus, dog and monkey show of unusual interest, a free attraction on the grounds Mr. Hoover said.
