The New York Tiger, the Van Buren organ in the Empire State, says:
Our opponents are in high spirits, and claim the whole South and West. We shall now how much justice there is in their claim.—That they have beaten us handsomely, we believe there cannot be a doubt. Defeat is unpleas ant, but we must learn to bear it now and then, only as it is. We have done our best. Angels could do no more.
The Cincinnati Republican, the Van Buren organ of the West, says:
'Much as we are disposed to respect the opinions of our late worthy President upon matters affecting the interest and honor of the country, yet we are not one of those who believe in the infallibility of his judgment with respect to a subject, about which there is so much diversity of opinion among the most able and experienced statesmen and financiers in the country, of all parties.'
