The State Convention Declares For Gold Silver, Greenbacks and McKinley.
RALEIGH, May 18.--The ticket nominated by the Republican state convention is as follows: For senator, Peter C. Pritchard; for governor, Daniel L. Russell; for attorney general, Z. V. Walser; for auditor, Hal. W. Ayer; for justice of the supreme court, R. M. Douglass. The other places were left open in the hope that the Populists will continue fusion. H. A. Gruber and Oscar J. Spears were nominated for electors at large.
The delegates at large to the national convention were instructed for McKinley. They are Senator Pritchard, James E. Boyd, George H. White and Claude M. Bernard.
The contest over state chairmanship, which was very bitter, resulted in a compromise. Mr. Halton, a Reed man, remains chairman of the committee, but the entire management of the campaign is put in the hands of a campaign committee named by Senator Pritchard, with R. O. Patterson as chairman.
The financial plank reads: 'We favor the use of gold and silver as standard money and the restoration of silver to its functions and dignity as a money metal. We are opposed to the retiring of the greenbacks, the money of the people, the money favored by Lincoln. We are opposed to the issue of interest bearing bonds in the time of peace.' And the president and secretary are criticised for issuing bonds.
