Business Women Nominate Club Officers for 1938

The nominating committee of the Business and Professional Women's club presented a slate of officers to the members at their meeting Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Dorothea Tredenick.

Mrs. Leah Boyer, Mrs. Ruby Barthel and Mrs. Barbara Rawles served as the nominating committee.

The slate presented was: Mrs. Merta Thompson, president; Hazel Smith, vice-president; Evelyn Allen, treasurer; Mrs. Vera Grant, recording secretary, and Lois Cosand, corresponding secretary.

Officers will be elected at the next meeting, set for Tuesday, April 26.

At the business meeting, Mrs. Thompson gave a report on the talk made by Joseph von Kleinschmidt at the Southern district convention at Del Mar. Mrs. Lucy Adair, club president, gave a complete report of the rest of the convention.

Mrs. Barthel explained two proposed legislative bills to come up before the state legislature.

Games were played after the business session with high prizes going to Theda Deem and Mrs. Carrie Wright for one game, and the consolation prizes to Mrs. Barbara Rawles and Mrs. Vera Grant.

Mrs. Muriel Christian was the winner of the other game.

A piano solo was presented by Jack York. Hazel Smith sang two solos, "True Confession" and "You're The One Rose", accompanied by Daisy Rapson.

A delicious salad, Easter candies, and chocolate were served.

Guests present were Janice Brown, Theda Deem, Daisy Rapson, Mrs. Mary Thompson and Mrs. Edna Gertz.

Members present were the Mesdames Sarah Kendall, Frances York, Dorothea Tredenick, Evalyn B. Westerfield, Carrie Wright, Nellie Brown, Barbara Rawles, Ruby Barthel, Merta Thompson, Muriel Christian, Carmen Gibson, Vera Grant, Leah Boyer, Lucy Adair, Myrtle Carroll; The Misses Allie Word, Estella Falla, Evelyn Allen, Berenice Moden, Grace Stockwell, Lois Cosand and Hazel Smith.
