Full Text

Mr. Owen is busily engaged with the Co-Operative Society of London, in establishing an "Equitable Labor Exchange Bank," where all the useful productions of industry may be deposited and exchanged, the standard of value & circulating medium being labor notes.

Mr. Owen, in one of his speeches at a late meeting of the Society, declared that after the establishment of "labor notes," gold and silver should be known as "baser metals" and iron would be called "precious metal."

It is resolved that the depot "for the reception of wealth" should be opened on the 3d of the present month, and exchanges commence on the 17th.

We look with some interest to the result of this novel undertaking. Some of the co-operative plans have been attended with great success in England.—[Transcript.
