Jacob Amreihn Loses Zoo Attraction When Bold Female Seizes Bird.
"Hello. hello. hello," said a bright green parrot that Jacob Amreihn, manager of the San Pedro Park zoo, brought along as company in his buggy this morning when he came to town to do some trading and which he left helloing at the top of its voice when he left the buggy to enter Joske's department store at Alamo and Commerce streets.
"Hello," said polly to a neatly dressed woman standing on the corner. That "hello" is said to have been the cause of Mr. Amreihn losing one of his most valuable parrots and of polly losing a home as one of the attractions at the zoo.
When Manager Amreihn came out of the store he found the parrot was missing and he at once started an investigation. This led him finally to a restaurant in the neighborhood where the young lady cashier informed him she had seen a well dressed woman hurry to the buggy in answer to the bird's cheery "hello," reach up her hand, grasp the parrot about the body and make off down Commerce street with polly loudly screaming for help.
Manager Amreihn says the parrot was one of the most valuable as well as one of the highest educated among his entire collection. He has asked both the police and county officials to aid him in his search for the bird, so boldly kidnapped in broad daylight on one of the principal streets in the city.
