SLANDER

At the late Circuit court, for Cayuga County, N. Y. the case of Parnel Moody vs. Elijah Baker, excited a peculiar interest. The Cayuga Republican says, it concerned the character of the young lady, which had been slandered under peculiar circumstances.-- Special damages were laid in the loss of marriage between the plaintiff and the son of the defendant. After a long investigation, during which the defendant made no attempts to prove the truth of the words laid, the jury found a verdict for the plaintiff for one thousand, four hundred and fifty dollars, and costs--a fair warning to slanderers.
