March 15. The Assembly of Notables in France has, we are informed, already produced an avowal on the part of the French King, which does honor to his humanity, evincing, that even decided despotism can entertain regrets for its inability to redress wrongs which despotism had caused: He therefore pathetically laments that circumstances, or reasons of State, prevented for the present his abolishing such a grievance as was reproachable to the GABELLE, being a most iniquitous impost upon Salt, that necessary of life.
