NEW YORK, September 14.
The demand for houses in this place (Greenwich) is scarcely greater than the rapidity with which they are raised. On a spot where yesterday you saw nothing but the green turf to-morrow you behold a store. A builder here undertakes to raise a house, not in so many weeks or days but - like a tailor making you a suit of clothes against such an hour. By night as well as by day, the saw is heard and the hammer resounds; and the consequence is that the village begins to assume the appearance of a town.
