By a letter from London, we have advice, that John Hermand, Baron de Dieskau, lieutenant general of the French King's armies, and formerly commander of all his forces, in Canada, &c. &c. died at Surene, in France, on the 8th of September last, in consequence of the wounds he received on the 8th of September 1755, in the famous battle at Lake George, then Lake Sacrament, where, at the head of 2500 regulars, canadians and indians, he attacked about the same number of provincial troops, under the command of the brave general Johnson, and was defeated, after a violent conflict, wounded & taken prisoner.
