SOCIALISTS LOSE
OUT AT CALUMET

Combination of Miners and Socialists
Fail to Defeat Manager of
Calumet Company

Calumet, Mich., April 6.-Today's
election passed off quietly and there
was no rioting as had been feared.
The eastern Federation of Miners and
the Socialists made a bitter fight
against the regular ticket for town-
ship officers, but met with little suc-
cess. In half the precincts
of
Houghton and Keweena townships
the regular ticket won by a vote of
five to one. At Calumet James Mc-
Naughton,
general manager of the
Calumet and Hecla Mining companies
was elected supervisor by a vote of
ten to one.
