What Prisoners Walker and Noel Have to Say for Themselves.
Editor Leader:
In regard to the article published in this evening's Capital, we wish to state the facts about it. Walker and Noel were put in jail for spite, because Henderson lost a case against them. Henderson came down with a friend to show him to convicts, as he called them. They walked around the corridor and pointed out Walker and Noel and said: "There is the two of them, I will send both to the pen." This was more than the prisoners could stand and they picked up the first things handy, which were the slop buckets. It was a bad dose, for it hit Henderson square in the mouth. As for the visitors, there was but one man, and he got no slop on him at all. Henderson was the nigger that got the dose, and Henderson was the nigger who needed it. Ellis the Jailor is not to blame.
