Extract of a letter from Kingston, in Jamaica, dated 29th Dec. 1787.

"The ships of war are moored at the outside of Port Royal Harbour, and have fitted out with the war establishment of men and provisions for three months, and have received orders to be ready to sail at a moment's warning. Troops are expected here daily, and the governor has made a demand from the house of assembly, for supplies to repair the forts and fortifications ; and that the militia are to be mustered and trained as in martial law : so that you see the commanders here are making every preparation for war."
