SEATTLE (AP) - A former Anchorage, Alaska, man wanted in connection with the slaying of a young mother here late last month was arrested Tuesday in Calgary, Alta., Seattle police were informed.
The man, Lance Miller, 35, had been widely sought since the bathrobe-clad body of Mrs. Helen Marie Finnie, 27, was found Nov. 3 hidden behind a log near Burlington, about 60 miles north of here.
Miller was charged last week with second degree murder with bail set at $50,000, but the charge was not made public by prosecutor Charles Carroll until after his arrest.
Carroll said action had been started to extradite Miller, who is believed to be a Canadian citizen.
The prosecutor said Miller was arrested on a Calgary street but police there were having trouble finding his car.
Miller, who came to Seattle from Anchorage more than a month ago, had been seen frequently in Mrs. Finnie's company before her disappearance. A search for him was started when he dropped out of sight about the same time she vanished from her apartment Oct. 28.
An autopsy showed Mrs. Finnie had been killed about the time she disappeared. She is believed to have been transported in an automobile trunk to the lonely spot where a hunter found her body.
