The teaching of sex hygiene was abolished from the schools by the Board of Education yesterday by a vote of 13 to 8. There was no severe fight either for or against the study. A caucus was held in the office of President Reinberg and it was then pretty well understood that after a trial of four months sex study was through.
The vote stood as follows:
Against Sex Hygiene - Michael Collins, Mrs. Vosbrink, Mrs. J. MacMahon, Thomas Kelly, Wm. Rothmann, R. J. Roulston, John J. Sonsteby, John Metz, John W. Eckhart, Joseph H. Holpuch, Axel A. Strom, Ralph C. Otis, Peter Reinberg.
For Sex Hygiene - Dean Sumner, Julius F. Smietanka, Harry A. Lipsky, Jacob M. Loeb, Dr. Otto F. Warning, Chas. S. Peterson, Mrs. Gertrude Howe Britton, Dr. Peter C. Clemens.
President Reinberg was re-elected and John W. Eckhart, a new member, was chosen vice-president. Mrs. MacMahon was appointed chairman of the school management committee.
