Nearly everything is in readiness to begin drilling the new well on the Criner Ranch Oil and Gas Co's. property near the Downard mines, south of the city. The owners of this property are very optimistic over the prospects of a big strike in this field. They are all practical oil men from the California fields and they say the formation is identical with that of the coast country where the big oil strikes have been made. Some delay has been caused by the non-arrival of the boiler, but as soon as that is installed drilling will begin in earnest.
This well is within four miles of the city limits and if the field proves successful will be a great thing for Ardmore.
