FIZZLE

A few of the would-be-leaders of the Democracy met at the Court House on Monday last, for the purpose of letting the dear Democrats of the county know for whom they may cast their suffrages at the coming county elections. We noticed the "stereotyped" delegate from Shepherdstown, Mr. G. D. McGlincy, who is the leader of that section of the county of his party, present, and he was very busy in endeavoring to stir up the "party," as another of the delegates called it.
In the meeting there was some sharp shooting with some of the members-and a member of the party who had previously favored a Convention and had called one, but having learned upon consultation, that the mass of the people did not desire one, was denounced as being guilty of "consummate impudence."
The Independent says-
"Well, now gentlemen, democrats, all we have to say is, you might as well hang up the fiddle. George D. McGlincy, Esq, of Shepherdstown, and seven other gentlemen from Harper's Ferry can't control the democracy of Jefferson. No, it can't be done
