Full Text

Tis much to be feared the heavy Rains lately fallen will furnish us with most melancholy Accounts of Floods, occasioned by the swelling of the Land Waters: the first that has occur'd to us is from East Grinstead in Sussex, where the Town Carrier, heavy loaded with a large Cargo of Hops, was so deceived in his Road to London, by the Increase of the Waters, that he drove into a Pond, and was overturned; by which Accident his Loading was spoiled, and the Damage computed at above 200 l.

The Waters are out in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, to such a Degree; that a great many of those Country Waggons did not come to Town Yesterday as usual.
