Business is beginning to revive slowly, and the river wears an aspect of life. Forty democratic are thrown at the banking house of term ended in discharge: and taking in front a I am approximate by mating employment. The loss of shipping are essential on the stream—vessels from North and East are daily arriving, and the lower part of our harbor has now a wilderness of masts extending like a hedge along the wharves. Unfortunately, the new arrivals have brought many passengers to the city, who are strangers to the climate, and therefore obnoxious to the insidious virulence of the epidemic, which still continues to hover about our streets. We have not heard lately of any new cases among those who have resided here during the summer—they may now be considered out of danger; but strangers and the unacclimated will certainly run some risk in visiting us for a week or two weeks to come, or at least until a change of weather takes place.
