Yesterday, about ten, the Lord Chancellor was waited upon by Earl Northington, Lord President of the Council; the Duke of Grafton, First Lord of the Treasury; General Conway and Earl Shelburne, principal Secretaries of State: Duke of Portland, Lord Chamberlain of the Household: Sir Charles Saunders, First Lord of the Admiralty; the Earl of Besborough, and Lord Barrington, several other persons of distinction, and afterwards by the Master of Rolls and all the twelve Judges, the King's Council, and many others eminent in the law: About half an hour after ten the procession began to Westminster Hall; after the Lord Chancellor's state coach, proceeded that of the President of the Council, and others of the Nobility and Ministry, according to precedency, then the Judges, &c. The whole was very grand, and consisted of 51 carriages, besides the Lord Chancellor's state coach, and two more of his Lordship's. When they came to the Hall, the Chancellor was introduced to his seat by Lord Northington and others of the Nobility, who staid about ten minutes, and then retired, when the Court proceeded to hear causes.
