Full Text

The Lincoln, Nebraska, State Journal says, with much sense: "A new party must grow or die. The alliance party has not grown any during its second year of political life, but on the contrary has dwindled amazingly in the two states where it showed the greatest independent activity and strength. It is likely that it will cut no greater figure in the next presidential election than did the greenbackers when they entered the arena with a national ticket. In fact, with the sub-treasury and cheap money schemes as the distinctive principles on which it will enter the contest next year, it is nothing but the old greenback party galvanized into semblance of life."
