Woman Hurls Iron Into Divine's Cafe

NEW YORK CITY-Accused of throwing a flatiron through the window of a restaurant conducted by Father Divine at 357 Lenox Ave., Lillian Taylor, 44, 239 W. 126th St. was committed to Bellevue Hospital Psychiatric Ward for observation by Magistrate Harris in Harlem Court Friday.

After throwing the iron through the front window Mrs. Taylor threw a bottle of kerosene into the restaurant and also a lighted match shouting that she was going to burn the place.

Mrs. Taylor arrested on complaint of Happy Mary Magdalene who is in charge of the restaurant, lives at 305 W. 142nd St.

In court Mrs. Taylor accused Father Divine of taking her sweetheart from her. She was committed when she began to talk incoherently. This is the first time Divine has been so accused.
