Absences From The City Prevent a Meeting of The City Fathers.
There was no meeting of the city council yesterday. Aldermen J. M. Gudger and H. L. Gudger are absent from the city and Alderman Starnes is still confined to his home by illness.
The auditing committee passed upon the following bills. Joint Board: Garlock Packing Co., $51.38; city engineer's office, $135.00; Henry R. Worthington Co., $199.21; French Broad Lumber Co., $92.70; Brown, Northup & Co., $4.70; Corn & Troy, $283.72; J. E. Dickerson & Co., $57.93; I. C. Baird, $75.00; G. Pressley, $50; quarry pay roll, $119.
Board of Aldermen: G. A. Greer, $46.26; Pulliam & Webb, $22.50; L. Pulliam $7; J. Brooks, $7; jury on Southside avenue, $6; The Daily Citizen, $35; Brown, Northup & Co., $0.95; Kelly & Strachan, lowering 4-inch water main on Blanton and Bailey streets, $39.72; M. S. Meadows, $7.50; J. E. Dickerson & Co., $22.38; J. C. Brown, $4.80; Carolina Woodworking Co., $8.75; H. C. Fagg, $2. Payrolls: Water department, $20.25; sanitary department, East ward, $38.41; West ward, $40.11.
Interest on bonds was paid to Blair & Co., New York, $1,500, and to the New York Security and Trust Co., $510.
