"at Large."
On one of the Committees appointed at the motley gathering of spirits at the lower room of the Court House last evening was A. K. Grim. He was announced as appointed "at large." That's it. He is at large! There are better men than he that are confined. He is not a genuine citizen of our county. He is a speculator—with other men's money—on the financial misfortunes of Storey; as is Jones on both the city and the county. Such men do not desire the city or county out of debt; no speculation would be left for them in such an event. A. K. Grim's connection with the Union street purchase is a sample of his intimate and sacred communion with Jones in caroming on the city. He it was who put through the infamous County Hospital swindle, by which our tax payers are yearly robbed of $17,000, or more. Jones had him appointed County Commissioner, to do the work there required as associate in a business that could not be very respectfully named short of the phrase of "500 per cent on Storey county and Virginia city."
"At large!" That's it: at large profits against a tax-burdened people! The verdict of the people on Monday next will be apt to assure him that he has run at large on the impoverished treasuries of the city and county long enough. He and his social will be taken in at a small discount.
