ENLISTING MINORS.

The friends of social order and chartered rights in this State, indulge a hope that the Honourable General Assembly, at their approaching session, will enact a law analogous to the one recently adopted in Connecticut, relative to the enlistment of minors. A bill on this subject is now pending in the General Court of Massachusetts, and we cannot hazard a doubt of its passage. Let the Legislators of Rhode Island, then, imitate the laudable example their enlightened compeers have presented—let them fulfil the expectations of their constituents, by preventing the operation of a law calculated to disorganize the ranks of society, by severing the most endearing ties of nature and cancelling the most sacred obligations in life.
