Full Text
Strange and incredible as the statement may appear, says the Fairfax News, yet we are, nevertheless, warranted by facts in stating that Mr. Thos. Henry Helm of this county, filled his Ice-house on the 5th day of the present month with pure clear ice, of an average thickness of fourteen inches! In explanation of this remarkable fact we may remark that Mr. Helm procured the ice from the banks of the Potomac, where it is still piled up in many places to a height of ten to fifteen feet.
