A DISPATCH from San Francisco to the Enterprise states that the Anti-Coolie Ward Clubs are growing unpopular and distasteful. Of late their proceedings have grown to be somewhat in derogation of a legitimate and dignified handling of the question at issue. Some of the meetings are quite disorderly and marked by the absence of decorum and the presence of a great deal of very bad whisky. A tendency is also evinced to ring in a crowd of mere boys, to make a show of membership on the rolls of the clubs. The discussions are allowed to deteriorate to mere wordy abuse, loose statements and rambling exhortations directed about as much at capital in general as the question of Chinese employment in particular, as though the clubs were a mere vent for the escape of class envies and animosities. The result is beginning to be appreciable in the feeling on the part of the better portion of the community; who are not in opposition to the movement itself, but to the manner in which it is conducted, and a consequent feeling of disapproval verging on disgust, which militates, to some extent, against the general interest of the people in the meetings.
