About 11 o'clock in the forenoon, on Monday last, a fire broke out at the north part of this town, and, from the height it had got before it was discovered, and the extreme inclemency of the weather, threatened destruction to a considerable part of the town: But such was the uncommon activity of the Inhabitants, aided by the generous and friendly exertions of our brethren of Charlestown and Roxbury, that this dreadful element extended its devastation no farther than the House where it first caught, and one adjoining—the former owned by Mr. Jarvis, and the latter by Dea. Holland.
