AUSTRIAN JUDGES, IN RAGS,
SUFFER FROM PRIVATION

Attitude Toward National Bench Adds to Wretched Conditions There.

The learned and upright judges of the Austrian bench and their families are suffering the greatest misery. The average monthly income of the judges is from $30 to $40; a few in the highest positions receive double that amount, but there are many whose salaries are much less. Some of the judges, with their wives and families, even suffer hunger; the clothes of some are literally falling to pieces; a benefactor clad one judge from head to foot. A certain judge cannot send his daughter to school; she has to nurse her mother, who is seriously ill. They cannot afford other help.
