The writer of the letter states, that Texas, from its numerous Indian tribes. would never have been settled by the Mexicans; but the Americans more brave and hardy have planted flourishing towns there.
The report of the Mexican Minister for foreign affairs states that there were, in January last, two thousand inhabitants of the state of Texas, and Coahuila yielded last year to the government treasury a sum exceeding, $1,400,000 dollars.
