A citizen of Washington wishes to know whether there is any assize of Bread established by the Corporation here, as, to the best of his judgment, the sixpenny loaf is nearly one third larger in Philadelphia and New York than in Washington. He also suggests the propriety of publishing a list of prices of the common necessaries of life, for the purpose of informing those at a distance, who may have such articles to dispose of, that they are dearer here than in any other part of the known world.
