March 4. Two French East-India Ships are arrived at Port-l'Orient, viz. one from Pondicherry, laden with Bale Goods, Muslins, &c. to the Value of 170,000 l. being the richest Ship they had; she met an English Privateer (suppos'd to be the Bristol, of this Port) and fought her for some Time, tho' sickly, foul, and weakly manned; she had Ten Men killed, and the Captain wounded, when, to their great Joy and Surprize, the Privateer made off. The other is from China with Tea, and is the last Ship they expect this Season from China: she arrived the 12th of Feb. two Days after the other.
