Statement of the number and condition of the frigates and other vessels of war of the U. S.

In service.

Frigates Constitution, requiring inconsiderable repair, and Chesapeake, both of 44 guns; ship Wasp, 16; brigs Hornet, and Argus, both of 16; schr. Revenge, 12; ketches Spitfire, 7; Vengeance 7; Etna, 11; Vesuvius, 11;—gun boats, 60, and 7 building, 78 guns.

Ready for service.

Frigates Constellation, of 36 guns, and Adams, of 32 guns;—brig Siren, 16; schr. Enterprize, 14 guns, and one gun boat.

Requiring inconsiderable repair.

Frigates, U. S. 44; Essex, 32; and John Adams, 32 guns.

Brig Vixen, 14; and sch'r Nautilus 14 guns.

Requiring considerable repair.

Frigates President, 44; Congress, and New-York, both of 36 guns.

Including 1 13 inch mortar.
