LONG PRAIRIE, TODD COUNTY, MINN.,
June 21, 1882.
To the Editor of the Globe:
I notice in a Minneapolis paper that this (Todd) county is put down for Gilman. There is some mistake about this, as Todd county is no longer under Mr. Gilman's thumb and does not propose to be run by him. We do not want Knute Nelson or any of Washburn's friends. Give us McGregor or Kindred and let us be delivered from the political schemer known as Gilman. For a long time he has claimed this county as his own, his face is never seen here except just before the county conventions. Gilman was here last week and stated that unless this county sent delegates to the Detroit convention for him, he would send a bolting delegation. We will let Mr. G. know that he cannot run the machine in this county.

Main Argument
todd county is not under mr. gilman's control and rejects his influence; the writer opposes knute nelson and washburn's friends, preferring mcgregor or kindred, and vows to resist gilman's attempts to dictate the county's delegation to the detroit convention.
