MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - There is no flat-chested or hipless look in the new Florida fashions designed for wear around the resort circuit this winter and destined to be seen on the better beaches next summer.
Curves are much in evidence in collections of the Florida Originators Guild, shown here to store buyers and press. Feminine frills also are present in the form of scads of lace, embroidery and ribbon trimmings.
Although the straight and narrow line of the sheath is still popular, there are plenty of full-skirted styles for those whose figures are not up to model standards.
In the swim suit lineup, the one-piece suit is tops, the all-lace-trimmed suit makes news. New also are form-fitting lastex suits with such trimmings as a bold checkerboard design in contrasting color. Bathing suits trimmed with sequins and other glitter add sparkle to the scene.
The tiered harem skirt is seen on a strictly feminine sun dress with long-torso top and a frothy skirt that looks something like an ice cream soda, being made of candy-striped fabric.
The advance showings for trade and press this season mark the emergence of Florida as one of the country's major garment manufacturing centers, with 210 factories employing more than 6,500 workers. - (AP).
